/// Klubb impuls since 2015

Klubb Impuls is run through the non-profit cultural association PULS, which was founded in 2014 by a group of young musicians who in various ways encountered and became hooked on the fantastic versatility and playfulness of jazz. When they committed to creating an inviting space for the audience to take part in, a fire was ignited to create a new club that actively works to become a place where audiences in an inclusive and welcoming environment can encounter exciting jazz and improvisational music and that also specifically targets against young people. A long audience work laid the foundation for inviting a younger audience to take part in a music that may not be close to hands for everyone.

The first concert took place in 2015 at Frilagret in Gothenburg and since then has mainly been arranged at Kulturhus. This is because the cultural center is everyone's house; a place for all ages; and where the focus is on culture and meetings!

/// Concert promoters

In 2023, the club is run by organizers Matilda Andersson and Sara Alexandersson. Even if the management only consists of these two, there are of course more people who are involved and cooperate for the implementation of the concerts and the business in general. The organizing group is constantly changing and has thereby enabled a changing program with many different artists and expressions from Sweden and internationally. Klubb Impuls is a place to discover new things!

/// Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes?

We like to be transparent in our booking work and are happy to receive questions about this. We want to make it easy for musicians to search for gigs. We love to talk about our business when there is interest in knowing more. Sometimes we hold lectures about what it's like to be an organizer and sometimes we have open meetings where we can get together and talk about the music industry. We are also open to more people wanting to be involved in our activities in some way. You are always welcome to get in touch!

Our VALUES

Klubb Impuls wants to contribute to a future where new talents, regardless of gender, background, or experience, are given the opportunity to perform and be seen on the Swedish jazz scene on equal terms.

OUR VISION

FAQ

  • From 2022, the concerts will take place at Fängelset and at Kvartersscenen 2Lång and Klubb Impuls may also appear on more stages. The musicians' needs can dictate which venue we choose to perform at, and we are happy to accept fun collaborations.

  • We arrange three events per season on the first Thursday of the month. Often Oct-Nov-Dec and March-April-May.

  • The double concert concept means that we present two different bands in one evening. While other organizers often have one band per night that plays two sets with a break, we choose to present two bands that each play a set of about 45 minutes. We build a contrasting music experience that we hope makes every visitor go home a richer experience.

  • Accessibility inside the premises is good. For more precise information about the availability of our gigs, visit the availability database for Fängelset and 2Lång.

  • The age limit to visit us alone is 13, but younger people are welcome in the company of an adult! All young people enter for free and senior citizens have a discount on the entrance.

  • Yes, alcohol is served at 2Lång. Staff take responsibility for not serving alcohol to minors.

    Fängelset’s arrangements are carried out completely alcohol-free.

  • At Fängelset we serve simple coffee, snacks, coffee, and non-alcoholic drinks from 19:00.

    At 2Lång there is a restaurant and bar that open a pleasant hour earlier, i.e. at 18:00.

  • Before Klubb Impuls concerts, you usually cannot book a table, but we welcome anyone who has special needs to email us before a concert and we will do our best to facilitate your visit!
